PHOTOTEQUE
A meeting place shaped by photography.
Bucharest, Romania · Professional & Cultural Space · 2018
PHOTOTEQUE was conceived as a meeting place for professional photographers: a setting for conferences, talk sessions, private events and the exchange of ideas around photographic practice.
Conceptiones developed the concept, curated the collection and produced and framed a fixed installation of 28 limited-edition photographs by Dan Andrei. The works gave the space its permanent visual identity and could also be acquired during the project's operation.

A space for photographic exchange
PHOTOTEQUE brought professional conversations and photographic work into the same environment. Conferences and talk sessions unfolded among the images, allowing the displayed works to become part of the discussion rather than a separate decorative layer.
The space also accommodated private events, but its identity remained centred on photography: a place where practitioners and guests could meet, look closely and exchange perspectives.

A permanent visual programme
Unlike a rotating exhibition, the installation was conceived as a fixed part of the interior. Twenty-eight works by Dan Andrei established a continuous visual rhythm across walls, corners and circulation areas while responding to the scale and natural light of the space.
The selection moved between different photographic subjects and visual approaches, creating variation without losing coherence.

From image to finished work
Conceptiones managed the complete artwork process: concept, curation, limited-edition printing and framing. This integrated approach allowed image, paper, print, proportions and frame to be considered as one finished object and as part of the wider spatial composition.
The project demonstrates the value of controlling both the creative and production stages when a photographic programme needs consistency across multiple works.

Photography within a social setting
The photographs were encountered during talks, professional meetings and private events. Their presence gave the venue a recognisable cultural character while leaving the room flexible enough for different formats.
The limited-edition works could also be purchased, extending the encounter beyond the space. This historical availability does not imply that the editions are currently offered for sale.
