ArtHalle Bistro

A bistro imagined as the room of a contemporary art collector.

Bucharest, Romania · Bistro & Art Space · 2022

ArtHalle Bistro was conceived as more than a place to meet, drink or eat. Conceptiones developed the interior design and fit-out around the atmosphere of a collector's room: personal, layered and shaped by sustained encounters with original art.

Approximately 20 large-scale works—painting, sculpture and photography—were selected and supplied for the space. Every work was original and could be purchased during the project's operation.

Designing around original art

Conceptiones developed the interior and artwork programme as one composition. Dark charcoal walls created depth and allowed the paintings to hold the room, while white sculptural furniture introduced contrast and kept the floor visually open.

Large works were positioned as spatial anchors rather than decorative additions. Their scale influenced sightlines, seating arrangements and the rhythm between darker and lighter areas of the room.

A collection across media

The approximately 20 works included original painting, sculpture and photography in large, varied dimensions. Bringing together Bojin, Adrian Dica, Augustin Radu and Dan Andrei created a collection with distinct voices rather than a uniform decorative theme.

The works were experienced at different distances: across the room as part of the interior architecture, beside a table during a visit, and at close range as individual objects with their own material presence.

KFe by ArtHalle

Art, design and speciality coffee in one room.

The dedicated speciality-coffee area was integral to the bistro's identity. Art, design and coffee were not treated as separate attractions: together they created a relaxed setting in which visitors could spend time, talk and return to the works around them.

The displayed works could be purchased during the project's operation. The case study documents that historical model and does not imply that the venue or artworks are currently available.
